Horse Owners Certificate

Dawn Vanstone B.HS. A.I (reg'd) regularly organises Horse Owners Certificate Courses, which are theory stable management courses with an optional exam at the end of each level. Some of the topics covered include: Minor Ailments, Grooming, Tack and Horse Clothing, Travelling, Pasture Management, Feeding and Fittening, Safety, and many other interesting modules.

Even if you do not own your own horse you will still find the courses interesting and informative. It is particularly tailored to suit new horse owners and leisure riders, but even the most experienced of horse owners will enjoy and benefit from the structured tuition, with the added goal of an exam to pass and a certificate to be gained! Great also for mums and dads with pony mad offspring! You do not need to be a B.H.S member to participate, although the B.H.S moderate all final examination papers and issue certificates.

The emphasis is on fun and learning for all with no pressure. The course can be tailored to your particular educational needs, with Home Study available as an alternative option. There are no age limits although under 14 years subject to discretion. Please contact Dawn to discuss your requirements.

Three Levels are covered, taking 7 weeks per level to include exam. The cost is £75 per level to include supplementary materials and examination fees.

Certificates are awarded to all those successful in the exam, for which the pass rate is 60 percent. (There is no extra charge to re-sit an exam!)

Regular courses are held at Little Bidlake Farm, Bridestowe. The next course commences in March 2006, every Thursday from 7 - 9pm. Courses can also be tailored to suit your needs for Riding Clubs, Livery Yards etc - minimum of 5 candidates required.
